Okay, story time!
So, in Anatomy class I have one friend, this friend happens to be a girl, in class we sit next to each other and do pre and post lecture chit chat about nothing, we're class friends, or so I thought. I've had a slight suspicion that maybe she likes me (i'm some big smart 3rd yearer and she's a 1st yearer who i've helped get to a class or two). Anywho so I've had a sneaking suspicion that maybe she likes me or is starting to. Then after class today she ended up walking with me towards where the busses are (since she was getting a ride from a friend) then saw her friend (apparently her 'bestest friend ever') and said she just had to talk to her. So (i think i made the right choice here) I said bye and booked it to the bus stop.
Anywho, so then I get home and there's a friend request from her, no big deal right? right, I mean, I have a couple friends on facebook that are 'class friends'. But then here's the kicker.... she sends me a message.... and here is what it reads;
"hey shawn how are you? thanks for accepting my friend request, now maybe we'll talk more often than anatomy class hah :)"
Am I reading something into this that isn't there? I mean, I'm pretty sure that she likes me (or something), maybe i'm full of myself. But it kind of unsettles me. I have no reciprical feelings of 'like' for this girl, she's a 'class friend'. Which is a kind of friendship where we both get someone in a class to say hi to and talk to on downtime, instead of just sitting around.
Basically... how should i respond to her facebook message? And what do you think, am I reading too much into this?
LOL. This made me laugh. :)
ReplyDeleteI think you are reading too much into it; just like a female would. I think that she's just a big flirt. Also, if she ever straight up tells you she likes you, just flat out say: I don't feel that way about you, but, we can still be friends.
And, done deal.
But, if you want that statement in more "you"-like terms then say... whatever you might say to someone in order to not hurt their feelings in such a situation. :P
Also, just know that you are not required to respond to her message. If you feel you must, just say something general and without a direct answer like: Haha!
And if she keeps pestering you, then you can delete her from Facebook. You realize, I hope, that you are not responsible to please everyone and that you can do what feels most comfortable for you.
I HOPE THIS HELPSSSSS! :D
P.s. - You're not full of yourself. Lol.
P.p.s. - I would also like to hear Banana's opinion on this! (That's a hint, Banana.)
ReplyDeleteP.p.p.s. - I'm trying not to use our real names on here, just in case.
OHHHH!
ReplyDeleteP.p.p.p.s. - I apologize for the plethora of comments, but I just realized that you can see my and Leanne's names on here anyway... when we comment. So, never mind the subtleties in the previous comments.
P.p.p.p.p.s. - Do the fish at the top of your blog reproduce? There are more now than there were at the beginning.
ReplyDeleteHaha.. oh Sam! I was a little creeped out throughout this post. Your comments on the other hand made me laugh!
ReplyDeleteAnd sorry Sam, but I don't totally agree with you on this one! Though you could be right when you say that she is just a big flirt. Anywhooo..
For one, good choice on booking it to the bus! Would have been my move too!
When a girl likes a guy she takes every opportunity that she can find to talk to him. This whole adding on facebook could potentially be the first step to this... (and from her comment, it seems that way. Maybe you'll just have to wait and see.)
I know the feeling of a 'class friend'; best kept as 'class friends'. I think Sam's suggestions of what to say are pretty good. I personally would probably just not reply, but that's just me. I get freaked out and I run.
You are not at ALL full of yourself. And how would thinking someone likes you make you full of yourself?
And... I don't think you are reading into it too much. I would do the same. If it is unsettling, make it better. It is not as though you have known her for long, so ties can easily be severed if need be.
If all else fails and she turns out to be a crazy stalker, creeper, psycho-woman, just delete her from facebook and find a new spot to sit in class (and maybe a male 'class friend' and hope she leaves you alone!)
Just make sure he's not a gay male class friend. Then you'll get yourself into even more trouble :D.
ReplyDeleteI was thinking the same thing sam :P
ReplyDeleteThank you both for your wonderful advices. I'll work with an ignorance is bliss attitude. if that makes any sense. I doubt she'll confront me with a flat-out I like you, I think i'm too intimidating for that :P.
ReplyDeleteI'll see what happens as it happens and i'll be sure to keep y'all updated :P
Oh and to respond to your (leanne) "how does thinking someone like you make you full of yourself", I think i heard that in a movie somewhere :P
Oh, and yes there are more fish now.
ReplyDeleteAnd if you didn't know, you can click on it to feed the fish, and they'll swim around where you have your mouse pointer, cause they're hungry.
I fed them for a good twenty minutes yesterday.
I JUST FED YOUR FISH! This is so fun. Now i'm going to be on your blog all the time.
ReplyDeleteWait, how do I get me some fish?
its something you choose when designing your blog, you can probably find it somewhere.
ReplyDeleteOk, now that is super amusing! Just to let you know though, the green fish are kinda stupid. They ram into all the other fish and don't catch nearly as much food.
ReplyDeleteAnd really? A movie? Lol. Don't take advice from movies!
But movies give the bestest advice ever! And so do Rap songs :D
ReplyDeleteNow there is a very large picture of a shark at the top of your blog, just to let you know.
ReplyDeleteAwesome, eh? you can make the fish swim into its mouth :D
